Key lime pie

THIS TART is wonderful with fresh or bottled Key Lime juice.


Ingredients

  • 1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk

  • 3 egg yolks

  • 2 teaspoons lime zest*

  • 1/2 cup lime juice

  • 1 (9-inch) graham cracker pie crust

  • 1 cup of cream

  • 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar

Garnish :

  • fresh lime slices*



Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Whisk together condensed milk and the next 3 ingredients until well blended. Pour the mixture into the cake batter.

  • Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or until the pie is set. Cool completely on a wire rack (about 1 hour). Chill for 1 hour before serving.

  • Beat the whipping cream at high speed with an electric mixer for 2 to 3 minutes or until soft peaks form, gradually adding the powdered sugar. Top the cake with whipped cream. Garnish, if desired.

  • *Regular lemon zest and slices can be substituted.
