HOW TO COOK RICE IN THE INSTAPOT

For all methods: • First, rinse the rice in a colander. • Use a 1:1 ratio of rice to water • Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt • Completely natural release (takes no more than 18 minutes) You can also add other dried spices, chopped fresh herbs, citrus juice, soy sauce, or other flavorings to the water and rice.

Another variation is to cook the rice in vegetable broth, chicken broth, or beef bone broth . Rice Setting The IP has a "Rice" button that can be used for regular white rice. Add the same amount of water as the rice and place it in the inner pot. Do not add more rice or water than the fill line inside the pot. Press the Rice button and allow the rice to cook. Do a full natural release, allowing the pot to sit until the pin drops and you can open the lid. Remove the lid, fluff the rice, and serve. If preparing other types of rice, use the manual program as explained below. Manual Cooking To cook rice manually, place the rice and water in the inner pot. Secure the lid, making sure the steam release handle is in the Sealing position. Press the Pressure Cook button and set the cooking time according to the table below. When the cooking time is complete, let stand until all the pressure has naturally released and the pin drops. Open the lid and air dry the rice. • Basmati and Jasmine: 6 minutes • Brown Rice: 24 minutes • Sushi Rice: 2 minutes; some suggest soaking the rice in water for 20 minutes before draining well and cooking • Wild Rice: 25 minutes
