Healthy Tortilla Chips with Salsa

Ingredients ;

DIP -

  • 1 28-ounce can of crushed tomatoes

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ red onion, finely chopped

  • 2 jalapeños

  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro

  • salt and pepper to taste


CHIPS -

  • 4 whole wheat tortillas

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • ¼ teaspoon of paprika

  • 1 teaspoon of salt


Preparation

  • Cut the jalapeños in half, scrape out the seeds and cores, and discard them. Finely chop the jalapeños and set aside.

  • In a large bowl add the tomatoes, chopped onion, garlic powder and jalapeño.

  • Using a fine grater, grate the garlic clove into the mixture, add the cilantro and mix well.

  • Add salt and pepper to taste.

  • Preheat oven to 325 F.

  • Add oil to 2 of the tortillas, place another 2 tortillas on top and rub.

  • In a small bowl, combine the spices, then sprinkle over the tortillas and rub them once more to spread.

  • Use a pizza wheel to cut the tortillas into 12 triangles, spread them on two rimmed baking sheets, and place them in the oven for 10-12 minutes. Once they're golden brown and crispy, they're ready.
